This is very much not a pop-friendly record, yet even so, Everything in Its Right Place and Idioteque have burrowed their hooks into the deepest corners of my brain. Also, Motion Picture Soundtrack makes me weep like a baby every. single. time.

can't believe carly rae jepsen invented pop music

can't believe charli xcx invented pop music 2. the sequel

Wor lad!!! I'm legally required to put him on here, because he's a lad from the North East singing about how fucked it is thanks to Westminster neglect. God bless the boy

Cursed mashups that should not be!

Jack Antonoff's production in combination with Lorde's songwriting and vocals is a delight for the ears.

This ambient concept album about dementia and memory decline is six hours long and i cried a lot of the way through it.

This was the first album i ever listened to in full. I love it more than i have ever loved myself.

Make Me Feel is a bisexual/pansexual anthem; Americans wins the award for "catchiest topical song making use of a sample from a priest's sermon", if such a thing exists

Look at this shit. It goes so hard, and it never even mentions computers. It's great. (Paranoid Android isn't that good, I SAID IT, COME AT ME)

Apparently people don't like this one because it's too long, which is... why would you pass up the opportunity for more Radiohead? Honestly.

Yeah, i’m enough of a man to admit to liking a Taylor Swift album. What of it?

Everyone knows how good Minecraft's soundtrack is, so i might as well use this space for something else:

If you are or you know the person whose Minecraft username was Squirrel719, Gwiwer179, or (currently) Aragataran... please get in touch. He was one of those online friends who just disappeared into the æther after logging off one day... i miss him so much.

The polar opposite to Minecraft's soundtrack — instead of being relaxing ambience, Celeste's OST is designed to get you hype as fuck.

This is one of those albums where you can just let the music wash over you, like tides coming into shore.

This is actually my least favourite album by them overall, but fuck's sake, the highs are so high that i have to put it on here.

Powerful songs; utterly infectious hooks.

Okay, look, i know those lyric samples sound ridiculous (and they are), but it's because this is an industrial pop concept album about an incel embracing their quee— aaand they've closed the tab

The tracks on this off-kilter electronic mixtape are short, and you may want to just listen to it as a whole instead of using my pre-picked selections.

I found out about this via Beige Monk's Neocities page! Gods bless the open web.

(Also, full disclaimer, i'm fairly sure the title and one of the songs are a reference to Twin Peaks, a show which i have never seen, so... spoilers, maybe??)

It took me a few listens to get “Dawn Chorus”, but when i did, it broke me.

This album would knock my socks off live holy shit

Sometimes people make excellent songs, but have yet to hit the jackpot in album form. These are some of my favourite songs from people who don't (yet) have an album worthy of The Shelf.
