The Orphic hymn to Dionysos

Κικλήσκω Διόνυσον ἐρίβρομον, εὐαστῆρα,Cicléſcō Diónyſon eríbromon, euaſtē̂ra,Dionysos i call, loud and divine; fanatic God, a two-fold ſhape is Thine:

πρωτόγονον, διφυῆ, τρίγονον, Βακχεῖον Ἄνακτα,protógonon, diphyē̂, trígonon, Baccheīon Ánacta,Thy various names and attributes i ſing, O, firſt-born, thrice begotten, Bacchic King:

ἄγριον, ἄρρητον, κρύφιον, δικέρωτα, δίμορφον,ágrion, árrēton, crýphion, dicérōta, dímorphon,Rural, ineffable, two-formed, obſcure, two-horned, with ivy crowned, and euion pure.

κισσόβρυον, ταυρωπόν, ἀρήϊον, εὔϊον, ἁγνόν,cisſóbryon, taurōpón, arḗïon, eúïon, hagnón,Bull-faced and martial, Bearer of the vine, endowed with counſel prudent and Divine:

ἀρρήτοις λέκτροισι τεκνωθείς, ἄμβροτε Δαῖμον·arrḗtois léctroiſi tecnōtheís, ámbrote Dæ̂mon;

κλῦθι μάκαρ φωνῆς, ἡδὺς δ’ ἐπίπνευσον ἐνηής,clŷthi mácar phōnēs, hēdys d’ epípneuſon enēḗs,Immortal Dæmon, hear my ſuppliant voice, give me in blameleſs plenty to rejoice;

εὐμενὲς ἦτορ ἔχων, σὺν ἐυζώνοισι τιθήναις.eumenés ē̂tor échōn, syn euzṓnoiſi tithḗnæs.And listen gracious to my myſtic prayer, ſurrounded with Thy choir of nurſes fair.
